The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered release time

Sony is kicking off the new year with a return to easily their most divisive PlayStation exclusive since the days of the PS4. Every PlayStation user has an opinion about TLOU2, and these opinions always swing between the extremes of love and hate. If you love the game, then the good news is that the release date and time countdown for when The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered will come out in PT, ET, and UK GMT is imminent. Sony has also confirmed the price and bonuses, along with all of the new content.

It’s been a really exciting start to the year for TLOU2 fans. Although last year ended with the disappointment of The Last of Us Online officially cancelled, this year has started off hot with HBO revealing the actor for Abby in season 2 of their live-action adaptation. The second chapter of HBO’s adaptation is touted for 2025, and it will be interesting to see how non-gamers react to the story and most infamous scenes.

Now, before HBO’s second season comes out, gamers get to return to Naughty Dog’s most divisive sequel through The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered. If you already love the game, then it is the perfect opportunity to experience it again but better than ever. Meanwhile, if you hated the game, then it’s the perfect opportunity to give it a second chance now that emotions have cooled down. You can get it for as little as $10, and the release date and time are on the horizon.

The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered PS5 release date

Although the original game is on PS4, this remaster is exclusive to PS5. It again tells the sequel to Part 1, and the leading playable characters are Ellie and Abby. In addition to this retelling coming out soon, we also know that we are getting season 2 of HBO’s television adaptation in 2025.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered PS5 price
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered is $49.99 on its own, but it comes with a $10 upgrade price for players who own the PS4 version. You can only upgrade to the PS5 remaster if you own a digital copy of the PS4 game or if you have a PS4 disc and a PS5 with a disc drive. It’s the exact same process as with the Death Stranding Director’s Cut.

The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered new modes and upgraded content
Arguably the most exciting aspect of the upcoming remaster is the addition of a new mode called No Return. This is a roguelike survival mode where you get to play different characters from the game’s story and setting. Each character comes with its own attributes and playstyles, and each playthrough will offer unique scenarios through random enemy encounters.

In addition to this new mode, Naughty Dog is also adding more flexibility to the guitar. Through a new Guitar Free Play mode, you will be able to play an assortment of new unlockable instruments, as well as play in the shoes of several different characters. Finally, there will also be playable sequences of previously cut levels from the game. Rather than fully finished and refurbished levels, these are cut sequences that will be accompanied by commentary from the development team to provide a glimpse into the creative process.

Lastly, the remaster will also include the following improvements:

Enhanced graphics
  • Native 4K output Fidelity Mode
  • 1440p upscaled to 4K in Performance Mode
  • Unlocked FPS option for TVs that support VRR
  • Increased texture resolution
  • Increased level-of-detail distances
  • Improved shadow quality
  • Higher animation sampling rate
  • Faster loading times
  • DualSense wireless controller haptic feedback and adaptive triggers integration
