Call of Duty: Warzone has been hugely popular since its launch in 2020, with millions of gamers battling it out on the Verdansk battle royale map. However, Call of Duty: Warzone players have now said goodbye to Verdansk and are patiently awaiting the arrival of the Pacific map Caldera. The removal of Verdansk and the impending debut of Caldera means that the Call of Duty: Warzone servers have been taken completely offline for a limited time. The Call of Duty: Warzone servers are offline as of 9pm PT on December 7, meaning that not only is Verdansk completely inaccessible, but fans are also unable to play other modes like Rebirth Island. The Call of Duty: Warzone servers will come back online on Wednesday, December 8 at 9am PT, at which point those that own Call of Duty: Vanguard can check out Caldera and everyone else can play Rebirth Island. Then on Thursday, December 9, all Call of Duty: Warzone players will have access to the new Caldera map. While there have been some dramatic changes to Call of Duty: Warzone in the past, like when Verdansk was taken back in time, this is easily the biggest update that the battle royale has seen since launch. Considering this, it's really no surprise that the Call of Duty: Warzone servers are being taken offline to implement it properly. The launch of the Caldera map will likely result in a massive influx of new players, so Warzone fans should keep in mind that even though the servers come back online on December 8 at 9am PT, there may be technical difficulties at first. When Will the Call of Duty: Warzone Servers Come Back Online? Wednesday, December 8 at 9am PT The Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera map isn't the only big change coming with the update. Players will notice some fundamental differences with how the game works, like with loadouts. Previously, being successful in Call of Duty: Warzone meant buying a loadout drop as quickly as possible, but now players have to wait for the first free loadout drop before they are able to purchase one of their own. While this may seem like a small change on paper, it will force players to adopt new strategies in the early moments of any given Warzone match. Another big change is coming to the Call of Duty: Warzone Gulag. Previously, winning the Gulag match meant respawning with only the starter pistol at one's disposal, but with the Caldera update, Call of Duty: Warzone players will respawn with the weapons they were using in the Gulag. This too should shake up Warzone strategies quite a bit. Call of Duty: Warzone's Season 1 integration with Vanguard kicks off soon, so fans don't have to wait much longer to see how all these changes and the new Pacific map play out. Call of Duty: Warzone is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. |
