Halo Infinite increases XP payouts

343 Industries has outlined further changes to XP gain in Halo Infinite following fan complaints over the game’s slow progression rate.

Community Manager John Junyszek gave an overview of the latest changes via his Twitter account. “After seeing how XP was earned with those changes,” he wrote. “We noticed that players were starting their sessions with slower payouts than we’d like. To address this, we will be increasing the XP payout for the first 6 matches of each day.”

After today’s refresh, the payouts will be as follows, with the aim to “help address those slower initial payouts while also benefiting those of you jumping on each day.”
  • 1st Game = 300XP
  • 2nd Game = 200XP
  • 3rd Game = 200XP
  • 4th Game = 100XP
  • 5th Game = 100XP
  • 6th Game = 100XP
  • 7th+ Game = 50XP

This is the second such tweak that developer 343 Industries has made to Halo Infinite XP gains since it added daily payouts a couple of weeks ago. It certainly sounds like these won’t be the last either. “We know many of you want even larger changes and we’re committed to doing so, but those will take time. We made this update based on data and player feedback, and we’ll monitor its impact after we push it live tomorrow morning.”

The move comes just as Halo Infinite finishes up the first go around of its Fracture: Tenrai limited time event. Players reported similar XP issues for said event, so hopefully those will be getting a rework too by the time they return. We’ll have to wait and see.
