As clarified in the PlayStation Blog, Mafia: Definitive Edition will be available on PS Now until February 28, 2022. With the game being a pretty straightforward single-player experience, you can beat it in as little as ten to 12 hours. What this means is you can most likely finish the game long before February, which is handy given how stacked that month is, even if Saints Row has been delayed. Unlike the recent Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition (which is a mouthful), Mafia is a high-quality extended remake of the 2002's game. It was made from scratch like Resident Evil 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Demon's Souls. What's more amusing, though, is that Mafia began life as a GTA clone before finding its own place over the years. Mafia: Definitive Edition offers the players a classic cinematic tale where the beautiful and atmospheric city of Lost Heaven serves nothing but the scenery for the game's tight narrative and strictly linear missions. Launched in September 2020, Mafia: Definitive Edition currently stands as one of Hangar 13's best-received titles yet, leaving far behind the studio's controversial debut — Mafia 3. However, despite Mafia: Definitive Edition being an almost unclouded triumph for the dev at the time, the studio's take on Mafia 2's and Mafia 3's improvements ended up far less likeable. Critics and players were equally unsatisfied with both games' Definitive Edition treatment, which added more bugs and technical problems to the projects while offering only a handful of visual enhancements. Another thing worth mentioning is that if you're looking for GTA's remastered trilogy to join the PS Now roster, you'll get your chance soon enough. You can play Vice City already, but Rockstar confirmed that GTA 3 – The Definitive Edition will arrive on service starting on December 7, 2021. |
