Posted by: Diablo in News (eSport)     Tags: S1mple wins Major csgo 2021
s1mple put up one of his best career performances in the dominant series that crowned him his first Major Championship title.

Two legendary teams in the Grand Finals, one destined to walk away with their first Major title in their history. Between these teams, two individual players that have earned almost every other accolade in CS:GO with the exception of this distinguishing trophy. Both s1mple and NiKo had come close before, but this series was both player’s best chance.

Ultimately, Natus Vincere took the final victory in PGL Stockholm Major. S1mple had one of the best performances of his career, eventually lifting the trophy in front of live audience and millions of viewers.

Na’Vi’s legendary PGL Stockholm run
With a two year absence of Majors, PGL Stockholm saw Na’Vi rise to the top once again and cement their legendary organization’s status with a Major win. The first map, Ancient, saw a contested start as G2 held a tenuous one round lead. Na’Vi managed to break away on T-side off of several explosive plays by the B1T and s1mple duo.

On Nuke, G2 had a much more dominant start as NiKo led the team to a 10-5 start. By the end of their CT-side, Na’Vi managed to tie up the scoreboard and after several rounds of Overtime the CIS Champions finally found their trophy.

S1mple’s benchmark performance, G2’s disappointment
Only fitting, s1mple put up an MVP performance in the most significant game of his career. The star fragger found 72 total kills across the two games, and also lead the leaderboard in DPR (95.2) and overall rating (1.51). Widely considered one of CS:GO’s most prolific talents, s1mple now has the trophy case to back up the claim.

G2 managed a respectable performance despite their agonizing loss. The team has now dropped three consecutive finals to Natus Vincere, all in sweeps. Though Na’Vi may seem to be G2’s weakness, the team has made strides ever since their roster overhaul nearly a year ago.
