The Xbox app now lets PC users stream games

Microsoft has introduced two new ways for PC users to play Xbox games remotely.

Following the latest updates to the Xbox app, Windows 10 PC users can stream Xbox Game Pass titles from the cloud and stream games from their home consoles.

“With these new updates, you now can play some of your favorite console titles on a wide range of PCs, even those that don’t have the specs required for certain PC titles,” Microsoft said.

Xbox Cloud Gaming on Windows PCs through the Xbox app was first made available in August for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers signed up to the Xbox Insider programme. It’s now available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members in 22 countries.

To access the service, PC owners need to connect a compatible controller via Bluetooth or USB. Once the Xbox app is launched, users can select the ‘cloud gaming’ button and choose a Game Pass title to start playing.

Microsoft has also enabled remote play in the Xbox app, enabling users to stream Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles to PCs.

New stability updates allow for games to stream at 1080p up to 60fps, and add the ability to play select Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, which Microsoft called “one of the most highly-requested features”.

Xbox Cloud Gaming was made available to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers on PC and iOS via web browsers in June.

Microsoft plans to offer Xbox One users the ability to play Xbox Series X/S games later this year when Xbox Cloud Gaming comes to consoles. Xbox console game streaming will launch this holiday, with testing set to take place in the autumn.

Earlier today, Microsoft dated 13 new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass for console, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming including Lemnis Gate, Sable, Aragami 2, and Subnautica: Below Zero.
